A martini is a classic cocktail that originally consists of gin and a dry white vermouth. There is also a variant in which the gin is replaced by vodka, a so-called vodkatini or vodka martini.
The martini is often served in a cocktail glass with an olive, this is especially popular in the United States. Instead of using an olive as a garnish, people sometimes ask for a “twist”. This often refers to the twist of a lemon peel through which the essential oils of the lemon are added to the drink.
I worked in a liquor store for a number of years before the Tea Brewery came my way and I still like to “play”* with the various drinks to make beautiful cocktails. As you have come to expect from me, I also like to “play” with tea. A combination of both is therefore inevitable and today I want to share 2 variants of a MarTEAni with you. In addition to a variant with vodka, I also share a variant with gin with you. There is also a variant with Earl Gray (hyperlink) and a variant with green tea (hyperlink).

Sugar syrup basic recipe
Of course you can buy ready-made sugar syrup in the store, but it is also very easy to make yourself. Sugar syrup is nothing more than sugar dissolved in water.
Necessary:
- 100 grams of sugar
- 200 ml of water
Preparation method:
Put the sugar and water together in a saucepan and heat over medium heat. Continue heating this until the sugar is completely dissolved. No grains of sugar should be visible in the syrup. Do not let the water boil to prevent the water from evaporating and the proportions from being disturbed. Let the syrup cool before using.
